November Meeting Reminder

Our November meeting is Tuesday, November 12th from 6-8 pm.  I have a lot of fun activities planned and I am excited to meet with my Daisies!  Some information that I would like to share:

*I need each girl to bring in an old solid colored t-shirt. We are making bags out of t-shirts to carry our scouting stuff to and from meetings.I did a test bag out of a girls size 6x and it was perfect.  I would not go smaller than a girl's 6x and no bigger than a woman's small.

*We have the opportunity to purchase discount tickets to the Ringling Bros. Circus during the Girl Scout times. This will be a Troop Family event!  I know that the whole family will enjoy this experince.   I will not be transporting girls as I do not have the space in my vehicle. We will meet at our seats,  which should be together. You can arrive 1 hour before start time. Do we want to go Saturday, Dec 7 at 11 am or Sunday, December 8 at 1 pm.  There are also two seating options. Lower and club seats for $15 or balcony for $10. I want to submit our ticket order by November 20th or sooner to guarantee our seats as they are first come first serve.

*Our troop made $36.70 from the Fall Product Sale.

Thank you Sophie and Madeline for selling!

Birthday Bash at Waterman's

The "perfect" pumpkins!

Troop 469 participated for the first time in the Franklin Township GS Service Unit's annual Birthday Bash at Waterman's.  Many troops gathered to participate in food and fun, and most importantly,  drop off our prepared birthday bags for children in need of a little something for their birthday!

Hayride!

October Meeting Re-Cap

We had a blast at our October meeting! The girls put together the Birthday Bags for the Birthday Bash! This service project focused on being considerate and caring for others. The girls earned the Spring Green petal for this project!

We also started the "It's Your Story-Tell It" Journey.  The girls should come to the November meeting with their background patch attached to their tunic.  Please follow the Uniform link above if you have placement questions.

Here are pictures of the girls collaboratively working on our animal mural.  We will be adding animals that we have learned about throughout this journey.

Some Information

Last week was our first Daisy meeting of the new scouting year and we had a blast!!!  We are happy to welcome two new members, Jadyn and Alyssa!!!  The girls earned the Violet petal, "Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout".  Our new Daisies are working on learning the Girl Scout Promise to earn the Promise center.  Our next meeting will be especially special as our Daisies will participate in the Investiture and Re dedication Ceremony.

There are tabs above with important information such as upcoming meeting dates, snack schedule, and patch placement information.  Please refer to this blog for troop information.

I would like to participate in the Franklin Township Service Unit Birthday Bash on October 27 at Waterman's.  I need a final head count by October 8th.  This event costs $10 and includes pizza and a juice box along with admission, a hayride, and pumpkin.  We will be assembling Birthday Bags at our October meeting which will include the following to bring to the event:

A “Birthday in a Bag” care package consists of all the goodies for a home celebration: cake mix, frosting, candles, a small gift, tissue paper for the gift bag, a card appropriate for the parent(s) to give the child, and optional party decorations. These items are placed in a birthday-themed gift bag tagged with a note stating the sex and age of the recipient along with a short description of the toy included.

I  will purchase the items for the bags if you can pay for admission for your daughter.  Adults are welcome to attend for $9.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Our Zoo Trip

The girls wanted to spend some of the cookie money on a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. Despite the crowd and the heat the girls had a blast! They were great examples of what a Girl Scout is and I was proud to be their troop leader.

Here are some pictures from our day!

May 18th is Lemonade Day Indianapolis!

I am so excited for our troop to participate in Lemonade Day Indianapolis May 18th!  We discussed at our last meeting that we would donate the profits to the Southside Animal Shelter.   At a later date we plan to visit the shelter to deliver the funds and scratch pads.  Walgreens at Southport and Shelbyville is happy to host our stand!  May 18th is our normal meeting date.  I need a parent volunteer that can drive and assist at the stand.

This is the fun patch that we will earn for this activity:

Daisy Days

Daisy Days

Back in March the troop participated in Daisy Days with fellow Daisies at Thompson Crossing Elementary.  The girls did various activities from experiments to origami as they learned to be "friendly and helpful" and "how to make the world a better place" earning their yellow and rose petals!  The girls also completed the Between Earth and Sky Journey patch.

Here are some snapshots of our day!

Service Project

What to do with all of those cookie cases?!  This meeting the Daisies were using their resources wisely by reusing the cases to make cat scratch pads for a local animal shelter.  I was so proud of these girls who worked as a team to make the pads.
Way to go Daisies!!!

Our First Cookie Booth

This past Saturday we set up our first cookie booth!!!  Three of our girls were able to help and they did a fantastic job!  We sold a little over 50 boxes which I think was great for our first time.  Most importantly the girls worked on people skills and learned to deal with people more confidently.   We would also like to give a big shout out to Lowe's for hosting a hot spot for Girl Scouts!

Here is our booth!
